| I concur. Its sad to see how much Frontier talents are lost in
| personal wars, especially when Radio offer so much potential, to a so
| much wider audience than Frontier, and that's mean jobs for Frontier
| and Radio developers. I don't want to take part in a flame war, but
| its sad to see such a great Frontier talent as David always in a
| collision course with Dave (the reverse is true I guess).

Still don't know the "players" but this kind of thing is unavoidable. This
effect transcends personalities, cultures, and even platforms...;-) What
I'm saying again, to be redudant.. It's exacerbated by individual
personalities, but it's unavoidable.

I hate to say this to you Frontier developers: But when it comes to
back-biting, shoot-yerself-in-the-foot, "Intermittent Alzheimers",
cut-throat behavior... Well you Frontier developers are nothing but a bunch
of rank amatuers compared to the iSeries community...! (No offense intended
to either community. LOL...!)

Seriously.. the iSeries community has had 2 decades to develop these
"skills" and there's a ton of money involved... So, unfortunately, the
Frontier developers can catch up to the iSeries community.. It's just a
matter of time.

|
| We all know how Dave can behave sometimes, but it doesn't help either
| that developers push a site like winerlog. Frontier developers are
| free to do as they want, but IMO, they just shoot themselves in the
| foot when they support winerlog. Not because winerlog make parodies
| of Dave Winer (parodies that are not even very good), that's ok with
| me ("qui sème le vent récolte la tempête"), but the people at
| winerlog doesn't distinguish between the software and the CEO. I
| don't think that anyone on this list think that Frontier/Manila/Radio
| are crap, but that's what the winerlog people seems to think. Does
| the developers employed at UserLand deserve this (Brent, Jake, Doug)?

I remembered THIS paragraph, at least. Like I've posted before, I think the
Whinerlog site just provides free publicity, but overall is a net loss to
the system.

|
| Think a little bit about it. We all like to have a villain to shoot
| at. But do we have to shoot at ourselves when a new UserLand product
| offer so much promise?

And that's what I'm saying in the first part of this. Everyone likes to
have a villain to shoot at, and Dave is easy pickin's.

|
| The Frontier developers have to leverage themselves in something else
| that is not personnal and try to organize themselves in a way that
| will try to go above the personal conflicts. We already have this
| great resource, scriptmeridian.com. Why not try to use it to elect a
| board of developers that will have for mandate to find solutions to
| conflicts and promote a list of urgent bugs fix and features on which
| the community could vote.
|
| In return, I think UserLand should have somebody (Brent?) which could
| be nominated to "developers relations". So this board could discuss
| privately with the UserLand interlocutor for the developers and then
| publish each month a report on what have been
| discussed/fixed/created...

How's that rap song go? "Whoop!.. There it IS!"

Here's a few more ideas that may, or may not, make sense to those on this
list and the folks at UserLand:
